Saulė

Saulė is a solar deity commonly associated with the sun in Baltic mythology. She is revered in the traditional beliefs of the Baltic peoples, which include Lithuanians, Latvians, and other Baltic tribes.

In Lithuanian mythology, Saulė is often depicted as a beautiful woman with radiant features, symbolizing the sun’s warmth and light. She is a central figure in Baltic folklore and is closely associated with the cycle of life and nature. Saulė’s journey across the sky represents the movement of the sun throughout the day, and her descent below the horizon at night symbolizes its rest or journey to the underworld.

Various rituals and festivals were dedicated to Saulė, particularly during solstices and equinoxes, as these were crucial moments in the solar calendar. People would celebrate and honor her to ensure the continuity of life, prosperity, and fertility.

It’s worth noting that different Baltic tribes might have slightly different interpretations or names for the solar deity, but the central theme of a sun goddess or deity is present throughout the region’s mythology.
