✨ Honoring the Ancients: Celebrating Our LGBTQIA+ Elders Day ✨

May 16, 2022

The moon may be waning, but our gratitude is at its fullest. Today, as the veil between the past and the present thins, we pause to honor the high priests and priestesses of our community: Our LGBTQIA+ Elders.

In a world that often tried to keep us in the shadows, these trailblazers cast the first circles. They are the keepers of our history, the weavers of our safety, and the architects of the liberation we walk through today. Without their magic, their resilience, and their stubborn refusal to be extinguished, our vibrant coven would not exist.

Why We Kindle the Flame

Honor Our LGBTQIA+ Elders Day isn’t just a date on the calendar; it’s a sacred invocation. It is a moment to recognize that:

  • They survived the storms: Our elders lived through eras of deep invisibility and systemic hexes, yet they kept their inner light burning.
  • They are our Living Grimoires: They hold the stories of the Stonewall riots, the heart-wrenching era of the AIDS crisis, and the first whispers of “Pride” when it was still a dangerous word to speak.
  • They paved the astral path: Every right we enjoy today was won through their radical rituals of protest and persistence.

Rituals of Recognition

Looking to honor the magical mentors in your life today? Here are a few ways to ground your gratitude:

  1. Offer an Ear: Reach out to an elder. Sit with them (virtually or in person) and ask for a story. Listening is a powerful form of energy exchange.
  2. Light a Candle: Set an altar with lavender for peace and rosemary for remembrance. Light a flame in honor of those who are still with us and those who have crossed the rainbow bridge.
  3. Support the Coven: Donate your time or resources to organizations like SAGE (Services & Advocacy for GLBT Elders). Ensuring our elders are cared for is the ultimate act of community spellwork.

A Blessing for the Wise Ones

May your spirit be shielded from the cold, May your stories be told and retold. For the paths you cleared and the love you gave, We honor the brave, the bold, and the saved.

Today, we look to those who came before us not just as ancestors, but as the enduring stars that guide our way home. We see you, we love you, and we thank you for the magic you’ve bestowed upon us all.

Stay enchanted,

Moonzie 🌙✨
