A blonde woman in a white dress smiles warmly as she kneels in a lush, sunlit meadow beside a winding stream, holding a bundle of twigs and flowers near a bird's nest with chirping chicks.
Awakening the creative spirit in the land of youth.

~ May 18

Come with me now to the land of music,
and of soft winding primrose hair,
and bodies the color of fresh snow,
bright teeth under reddest lips.

Every neck is sweetly pink, every
body smooth, every brow dark,
every cheek like a pale foxglove.
Come with me to the land of youth.
– Irish song to the goddess Edain

The goddess of creation makes her presence felt in the world at this time. Each day brings new births: small birds chirping in the nests, tiny seedlings that grow almost as we watch, new ideas, new projects, new plans. We, too, participate in the ever-unfolding drama of creation. Even as we sleep, we create: complex tales that express our inner selves. If we can do that much when we are unconscious, how much more creative can we be when wide awake?

Yet many of us have been discouraged from showing our most deeply creative selves to this world. Instead of delighting in our creativity, which mirrors that of the goddess, we shrug it off and turn back to the daily grind. If honoring the goddess means honoring ourselves, we must break our deadening habits occasionally and let the creative goddess out to play. Our lives are deepened and broadened by her presence.
