Shadow and Surrender: A Good Friday Reflection

As the wheel turns and we find ourselves in the depths of the Paschal Triduum, the energy in the air feels heavy, deliberate, and undeniably sacred. While the world may associate this day with somber church bells and traditional observance, for those of us walking a more intuitive path, Good Friday offers a profound opportunity to align with the rhythms of surrender, shadow work, and the quiet power of the void.

The Liminality of the Silence

Good Friday is a threshold. It is the breath held between the chaos of the arrest and the inevitable transformation of the resurrection. In our practice, this is a day for The Great Pause.

Nature herself mirrors this stillness. The sap is rising, yet the earth still holds onto the chill of the frost. It is a time to honor the “dark” half of the cycle—not as something to be feared, but as the essential, fertile soil from which all new life must eventually emerge.

Weaving Shadow Work into the Day

If you are feeling called to lean into the witchier, more introspective vibrations of this day, consider these practices to ground your energy:

  • Honoring the Void: Spend time in silence, away from digital noise. The absence of stimuli allows us to hear the whispers of our own intuition more clearly.
  • Release Rituals: Just as this day marks a moment of ultimate release, use this time to identify what you need to let go of before the upcoming lunar cycle. Write these burdens on a piece of parchment and safely burn them, committing the ash to the earth.
  • Altar of Rest: Transition your altar to a space of rest. Utilize dark fabrics—deep purples or blacks—and incorporate symbols of transformation, such as a chrysalis or a stone from a riverbed, representing the endurance of the spirit through the darkest passages.

Finding Balance

In the tradition of Radical Intuition, we know that we cannot have the triumph of the light without first sitting comfortably in the dark. Good Friday teaches us that strength is not always found in action; sometimes, the most potent magic is found in our ability to witness, to grieve, and to wait with patience for the shift in the tides.

Whatever your observances may be, may you find peace in the quiet and clarity in the shadows. Trust your inner compass to guide you through the stillness.

Stay grounded and keep looking up,

Moonzie
